what are some of your favorite rpg games (including zelda's)
what ones are you getting your ideas, influences, and all from?
my favorite is baldurs gate and icewind dale!!

I'm more of a fan of japanese rpgs than american rpgs, I think because the japanese rpgs are far more story driven and american games are typically more combat/leveling oriented. Also I play regular Dungeons and Dragons and most american games are based heavily off of D&D that it just isn't as enjoyable for me to play computer D&D as it is to play tabletop or LARP D&D.
Well in the past I would have said Secret of Mana was my favorite rpg but I've been playing Tales of Phantasia lately and it's pretty much tied right now and I'm not even halfway through it right now.
I also of course love the Final Fantasy series, also the Breath of Fire Series, Seiken Densetsu 3 (secret of mana 2). These games to a certain extent have influenced me, I think more influence on my art than on the design of my game. My game is very story driven but more influenced by books I've read than by the storylines of other rpgs.

My fav is Morrowind. a 3-d RPG, that overexaggerates it's abilities. It's still a great game, though.
I based my game on what I thought was a unique idea; post appocolypse. Soon after I discovered that there were a few with this storyline. I may eventually change the storyline. The game is at a point where it can turn any direction it wants, since all I have down now is the movement and inventory. I haven't actually started to design levels yet. I think I was partially motivated by pokemon. I don't mean in the childish manner, but the full blown idea, the design, the grid, etc. which all together makes it extremely well built, and a #1 seller of its time. Unfortunately, because it was designed for younger children, it gets caughed at quite a bit.

I HATE Tibia!  (Don't get me started on that!) Anyway... my favourite RPG's are the Baldur's Gate series, Secret of Mana 2, Lufia 2, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia and most of the Zelda games. |

o 2 very cool online rpgs are runescape (www.runescape.com)
and! tibia (www.tibia.com) but i think runescape is better and in dec. the new engine is getting put up also known as Rs2

Some of the rpgs that influenced me are Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. i find these games addictive and fun to play. i want to make a game similiar to them but stay away from the advanced D&d stuff.

Ultima online is the best MMORPG I've ever played, I hope to have most of it's features figured out in GM. Some things that I thought were impossible, have been possible with Gm. UO has helped me alot with the ideas in Barn Ratz.

Well, My favourite RPG's are Diablo II and Golden Sun, Both of them are original. Golden Sun with "Djinnis" and Diablo II... Well what can I say, people have written Books/Novels about who the npc's, monster's and bosses are, Quite cool =) Both affect me when game making much, becouse both got original names on stuff, like there is nothing named Orc, Elves or such in Diablo, which is like standard for RPG and Fantasy books(Tolkien =) ) My Ultimate goal in my game is to make a game like Diablo or Golden Sun. I am right now drawing art for my game; Swords, human and monsters for example. Ideas for how a Sword/Monster/NPC is built is from Diablo II, and Pixel art from Golden Sun. So both affect me greatly on how my game's gonna look when they are done  Regards IA: fixed typo "game/s" |
