As of GM7 Beta 2 and later (including the actual GM7 release itself), Mark started encrypting the files. The encryption is documented here:

but once you get past the encryption, the format is the same as below.

GMK is for GM 7.0
This is version 0.9 and is not tested to make sure that it's actually correct, but should give you a general idea about what the GMK file format looks like. Some things that changed were Version needed (in some places), Game Settings (Includes, Other, Info), Extension Packages added, and Added Extension Packages to Tree (now 12 elements, not 11).
Here's the latest and only version. If you wish for it to keep updating or need a fix, you will have to do that yourself and host it yourself, since I no longer support this format.
