Videocards are pretty easy to install. It's just a matter of cracking open the side of your computer, removing the [correct] slug, and then plugging it in and putting the cover back on. Then, you turn on your computer and XP will automatically find the drivers for it. GeForce and Radeon are the 2 best brands. Just buy the latest from either of those. One thing might come up, tho. Before purchasing your graphics card, open up the case and look at the slots where cards go (you do know what those are right?). If there's an extra slot that kinda sticks in a little, that's where older cards go. It's called an AGP slot. Most new computers have gotten rid of that and now have a PCI Express slot where your graphics card go. It's just a matter of figuring out which one is your PCI Express slot. All the other slots are called PCI, but one of them is a PCI Express slot. Read more here: www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1087(If you have someone who knows a little about hardware, try to have them explain it to you and possibly locate which slot is your Express slot)

Depending on her definition of "new", it probably is true. Check the box when you're buying it. You should be doing that anyways. Check out all the features, limits, flaws, and computer specifications.
