It's Labour day tomorrow and i'm wondering if anyone knows whether everyone's off the hook(school, work) last time it was a holiday noone mentioned it where i work but i seen it on the bulletin board though, this time i didn't notice it, but i heard there's no work on labour day so i'm just asking, either way i'll phone to ask anyways.

Yeah, I noticed that too. People don't make it very appearent whether we have off for certain holidays or not. Heck, I didn't even know it was labour day until yesterday. I saw that I didn't have a few classes, but I thought I might just have early dismissal or something like that. Now it's quite obvious that I have no classes, but they don't make it very obvious.
Anybody know what the deal behind "labour day" is, anyways? Why is it called 'labour' day if we actually have off of work/school and so we don't have to labour... Maybe it should be called "unlabour day". lol. Or maybe it's just a bag of crock.

lol. No, it's a holiday for workers. It used to be called "workingmen's holiday" but workingmen got shortened to labour, and holiday got shortened to day. It's a hundred years old or so, and it's meant to celebrate all the great work our working-class-heroes have provided. It's a legal national holiday.
