Did anyone here use the good old trusty RPG Maker 2000 before they moved to GM??? Ah, the good old days... A turn based battle system??? No worries mate! NPC interaction?? Easy! The one problem with RM2K is that the games that came out the other end generally sucked I only wish that there was a tool like RPG maker 2000 that gave more flexibility, as well as the ultra-n00b friendly interface that it had... So, every1 out there, lets hear about your crappy old RM2K game!!!

I have tried it, but found it pretty crappy. It's just that there are to many limitations. For me atleast.

I tried it recently, and gave up right away, since I clicked on something and it popped up with a box with at least 20 tabs In GM, you don't have more than 10 tabs, ever.

The only problem with RPG Maker 2003 (or the other versions) is that there's too many tabs of events that you need to digs through to find what you want. Otherwise, it's user friendly, powerful "enough" to make an decent RPG. And a all around n00b-friendly RPG Maker.

sure you need a bit of pracise but once you've used it for a little while you can find the tabs you use most often pretty quickly and it is pretty usesful in some situations. For example, you dont have to program your charecter to not walk through walls, it just wont.

The makers of RPG maker have made an online one, but it requires a server, cud I use a website as a server? Also would it take up alot of bandwidth?

Nah, you can't use to website to run a server. They're for webpages and downloading files. You'd probably have to run your own server (have a computer on all the time running the game).

I have made my computer a server once. I got a site with ftp and uploaded my ip to it. Although I didn't get a chance to test it out on anything, the setup seemed like it would work, as long as not too many people played the game (bandwidth)

you might be able to find a site that could run the server for you. i don't know but there's probably 1 out there

It will be very hard to find a site though. Think about it: Would you trust complete strangers upload and run programs on your computer? All sorts of things could happen.
