i like this board alot, but its hard to be very active because even with 50 members there are only a few posts a day. i was wondering if there was a way to let more people find out about our board?

Well, someone told me to advertise it I should put it in my signiature, so I did just that for the GM boards, as well as any other GM boards I find. Also, whenever I see someone post about RPG's in the GM boards, I answer their question, and then say "Also, you may be interesting in joining the RPG boards", and explain the advantages and what the board is for and stuff. Also, I tell people in my buddy list to join these boards, if they are interested. these are only a few methods. I don't like spam, banners, and ads, so I avoid that stuff when informing people. They see it if they want to.

okay good, is there anyway that GM boards would allow a topic about our boards?

Yeah, you could advertise our boards in the Community boards, but with so many new boards, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't get many replies. The moment it leaves the first page (default page size), then that advertisement will be over, unless we somehow have some big change in this community, allowing us to bump our topic by informing people of the change, but not too many people would reply to that either, and it would drop dead quickly again.
All I can say is inform people you know, people who are working on RPGs, and put it in your sig. if you want to see this place more active.
I think it's fine as it is, nice and calm, a few posts a day. It's not dead, and it's not overcrowded, but each individual who wants it to be more popular can personally advertise it, and then if it was in the best interest of the GMRPGboards community, then most people would be advertising, and we'd probably get a lot more recruits.

I'd say advertise with going on Google. Make a Meta tag so that they can make a better review of what searches your site should fall under.
It's only a thought, but hey, I'm sure you're going to be found by their crawl engines some time soon.

LanceHeart's right. Try submiting this place to a few search engines, like Google and Yahoo.

I didn't make this webpage, so I don't know if you can give it meta tags, though.
But if anyone wants to submit it to search engines, go ahead.

when i first came here, there were quite a few people posting, and now it is only a few members.
We need to either get more publicity or make a radical change.
I balme it on the gm forums, even though the people there seem to dislike rpgs, they do give speedier replies, as there are more people on and there are people on 24/7.
However, it may be better this way, as at least the people still posting are good RPG fans, and it is now a nice little community.

well i stay here becuz i'd be lost without you guys, anyways i think maybe to keep more members active we need to have alot more works in progress some tutorials and maybe a little remodelling ( cuz now adays people always include anime pictures in there banner, thats not saying that i don't like what the forums look like, cuz personally i don't like anime too much ) like maybe you could have a dungeon type theme or a forest, something RPGish anyways i put a link in my sig for the gmc but i hardly ever post there anymore.

the theme isnt to bad, and as this is a free board customizing it is hard. I think a companion website would be good. I know you already have one ism, but why not a big rpg one? and reserve the forums for asking questions etc. So move the snippets and examples on to the site, and im sure if we all chipped in with anything we have got/can soon make, the site would be prtty big.
just an idea

It's fairly easy to change the skin. Setting up a whole new board and splitting it up and distributing it as you have suggested, megamushroom, would be considerably difficult. A number of valuable posts would be lost. There would be mass confusion for the first week or so, and you'd have to log on to 2 boards. I have PM'ed Naodi and asked her to change the color scheme. Whenever she gets around to visiting these forums again, I'm sure you'll start to notice a difference.
I continue to encourage people to invite people to these forums (my friendly way of saying "advertise"). We do have an inactivity rule here, so make sure whomever you invite will be active. It's better to have 2 active people than 20 inactive noobs who joined because they wanted to feel special.

QUOTE:you'd have to log on to 2 boards.
why?
we could just keep this one, but only use it for discussion, pretty much like it is now. All im saying is move the examples and misc snippets onto a large rpg orientated site.

Well, there's a board for it. This allows it to be a little more accessible, easier to add to, and visible. If it were to be moved to a site, We'd have to put it in our sigs or post about it or such, hence making it less accessable, and then someone would have to keep updating it.

hmm, true
nowa--days forums are the way to go, as they can do everthing a site can do, and they are easy to update and change.
shame really, but hey, go with the flow

i like the idea of a comanion site, because that way, say you want to dwonload a work in progress, some sprites, or a finneshed work, you dont have to sieve through the form to find it. you can just go to the site. ive taken web i school, and next year im taking web disign so if some one wants to help me ill gladly make a comapnion web site to go with the form.
