Thats right I'm back with a possible project (not an mmorpg like my last one...) I'm alot more devoted to my projects, my gml skills have increased greatly, and I have the patience it takes to make an rpg.

I've redone alot of things (including alot of GFX), the whole battle system and movement system has completly changed.

I've created a great storyline =D
Long ago on the Galian Islands way down south in the Tower lived a powerful warrior named Eragon. He was said to have the ability to turn into a dragon. He would then terrorize villages to get money, items, food. Until one day a trio came along; a fighter, a paladin, and a socerer. They climed the tower annilhilating enemies, disarming traps, and solving puzzles until they reached the top were Eragon waited. Before Eragon transformed they sealed him within a sword, the Dragon Edge. They built a shrine for the Dragon Edge atop of Eragon Tower. Rearming traps, replacing enemmies, and adding more puzzles in hope that no one ever unless the evil dragon man from the sword. The trio past away over the years and the seal weakened, until finally Eragon was able to set himself free again. Many brave adventurers set foot into the tower to defeat Eragon and claim the Dragon Stone for themselves. The Dragon Stone was said to give who ever posessed it the power to change into any dragon form they wanted...

Movement will no longer be done on a grid, instead it will be more like LttP and Golden Sun. This way I can create an awesome puzzle and battle system.

It is planned to support 2-6 players, the host will probly need a rather fast internet connection since it deals will all the players (broadband or better probly). Clients should be good on modem.

Anyways ask questions, add comments, even post some ideas if you wish (the inventory could use a few ideas).
Note: This use to be Sword Crew, but alot has changed and the title was only a working name.

Z targeting on a grid. Now that will be interesting to see.

I'd love to be a beta tester but I tend to have problems receiving stuff on IM, although as of late I realised my firewall turned itself back on again, so I turned it off and I've been receiving stuff here and there (not enough to know for sure, but I haven't had any failed receives)

sounds like a plan. How are you planning to work out the MO part? main server, or individual hosts?

Edit: I've completed enough tests to confirm that I most likely AM able to receive stuff via IM (from AIM users), so if you want me to beta test, I'm rather good at finding even somewhat hard to find bugs, as long as the game isn't too large (for a number of obvious reasons). If it's large, i'll just look for the bugs a player would run into, and occasionally look in places where bugs most commonly can be found.

It's not exactly like z targeting on a grid, but thats kinda the closest I can get to describing it.

The MO part is done by individual hosts (there is no "main server" and there never will be) Since it only holds a maximum of 4 players and I'm sure most people have 3 friends to play a game with. You can join one by one already and move around but if you log out (such as your player number is 3 and the game is full, the next person to log in will be player 4) Then you have two player 4s and it screaws up.
Monsters will be made on the host's screen and update to all other players. The game is pretty even with sending data to everyone except for the monsters, so who ever hosts may need a fast connection (at least broadband).

Sounds very intersting. Do you have enough ready to make a mock-up screen? I can always tell me from visuals.

Hmm the pathfinding was lagging when I tried with Ismavatar...
I didn't do all that much work on a mock-up screen (just once for the battle system which I've changed as the plan develops)

Lately I've been busy with Tibia, Golden Sun, Breath of Fire 3, Final Fantasy 6 (enough rpgs?). I haven't got any work done. BUT I've been planning a ton of stuff for it.
The game was planned to support 4 people but I've changed it back to 6 people. Heh.

And the game seems to be developing a ton of ideas from the following rpgs (Tibia (The GUI), Diablo (Partial Battle System and Movement), Final Fantasy 8 (Card Game like TT), Golden Sun (The Menus), Breath of Fire 3 (Masters and Apprentices), Vagrant Story (Thier Puzzle Design)
A third of the ideas are coming straight from me. (Quests, Adventures, Items, Some Battle System Properties, Games, and other stuff I didn't list)

I plan to redo my wreched pathfinding and laggy updating process. I also need to do some new weapon sprites for the axe and spear.
