Those of you from the old RPG topic would have heard how much I went on about this game, how great it was going to be, the awesome battle system, etc etc. You might also have noticed that my presence here has been appaling... I am very much suprised my account is still active. Since the RPG topic ended I have not been working on mystic nights, partly because of graphics troubles, partly because I no longer believe Game Maker is the best tool to use. So, apon realising that I'm never going to finish it, here is the editable for all to see. www.geocities.com/weird_mayhem_gm/Mystic_Nights_Editable_RPG.zipThe link is correct, you must right click + save target as. Please realise I have very limited bandwidth so you are all going to have to be patient. If anyone can offer a better host, I would be very grateful. I also ask anyone who downloads the game to read the game information form. Any feedback??

No feedback?? The download works ok.. I just finished downloading it myself! (Thats on 56k, and in 2 minutes). Please, don't be scared by the bandwidth. It doesn't run slowly, just if too much is downloaded my site gets shut down for the day.

Walk into the fire: And that error is quite obvious, controller never speaks of a variable "slot" And for the other problems I see so it looks like you never learned about the naming conventions. spr_ bkg_ df_ obj_ rm_ you may want to check this out, this is WHY you can't name resources the same. userweb.nni.com/cmagicj/resource_name_crashcourse.txt

I never said it was perfect. . . . It's never going to be finished so I thought i may as well release it. The fire error can be fixed by making sure the rooms are in the right order (Sounds stupid, I know.) Make sure the Intro is first, then the file select, then the actual game. This initialises certain things (Can't rightly remember what). However if there's anything there you can use (Inventory or battles maybe) then go ahead and use it. I just want to feel like I've made something useful Also... that list... Where did you get that???

In GM5.3 (and maybe event 5.2), there's a [Scripts] menu up top in the GM Designer. Click that, and the second to last option is Check Resource Names.
Sometimes it only says the name is invalid. This simply means that you named something with a bad naming convention (such as a space, or a number at the beginning). Using the prefixes (spr_ etc) you can fix the number problem, and you can replace spaces with underscores (_) Only use uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and/or underscores.
Somtimes it says it shares a variable name. This happens when you choose a name that is the same as a constant (such as "score"). using prefixes should also fix this.
