Let me give you some background story. I'm very happy to have found this board, btw. It is almost as if two completely different worlds exist on the same planet. Focusing the infinite power of science, man learns to manipulate gravity to great extents - creating vast, floating cities. All research moves to the skies, and technology continues to advance on what man calls The Plates. A new religion is born based on the belief "Machine = God." Those born on The Plates are force-fed these warped teachings; slaves to science. Meanwhile, those left on The Surface suffer from the waste and fallout produced by the giants discs in the sky. Technology has declined thousands of years, and most of the earth is reduced to a state of ruin. Variants, human/creatues who were mutated by the pollution, roam the land like zombies. Those left on the Surface cling together in fear, trying to preserve their own minuscule lives.. rpginfinity.com/projects/dp/screens/devroom.gifrpginfinity.com/projects/dp/screens/menuprelim.gifIf you're interested you can find more information and updates here.. www.rpginfinity.com/projects/dp/

very cool. the intro would be cool to see, if you get the graphics together to make it.
I think after you make this, you should make another using the same idea, just before the appocalypse. that would be really cool.
now that's a bit of a vague explanation of the appocalypse. i hope you come up with more upon it.

Thanks. I hope I don't mislead when I say "post-apocalyptic'. To quote a very wise opinion I once read.. In my story, the "apocalypse" is merely the change made when technology is moved to The Plates..not really a disaster that reduced the world the ruin. It is the pollution and waste created by The Plates that has caused this. When I say technology has declined, it is because all the research and development now exists in the sky. Technology rapidly declines on the ground, as things grow more and more chaotic.

I remember this game from gamemaker. Sounds very promising. I liked the screenies aswell. Hope to see some kind of a demo soon.

I've been verrrry sluggish with development lately. I hate when I drop something for awhile (couple of weeks). It's hard to get back into the coding mindset, and when you leave things half-finished you often forget alot of what you were doing. Comments.. you have to leave helpful notes in your code. Anyways, I'm happy to say I'm back, and continuing work on the combat engine.. not to mention a graphics overhaul.

Seeing as you are doing a complete graphics overhall, I take it that all of the graphics are completely original? I know what you mean by hard to get back into. I've done the same with my rpg project.

Yep, you're correct. The only thing I couldn't claim as mine was the field sprite for the main character (screen #1), it was an edit. I've since replaced it with an original, though.

Was it an edited RPG maker sprite? Anyway, it's great that the graphics are original. I don't like ripped sprites in other peoples games.

It was. It looked nice, but it just didn't fit with the rest of the work. Consistency.. ;D

interesting... so the plates remain normal and the surface goes into a downward spiral?

Exactly. (almost ) Technology on The Plates continues to advance at an amazing rate, while the Surface indeed does its regressive downward spiral.
