Menus

I'm totally stuck on menus. My RPG is a one on one battle, with a menu for the player. It's a pretty small menu with around 4 options. How do I change the menu, and also have things like attacks listed? I could probably do it with a variable but what if there were two attacks or something?

Otherwise, you can't change the appearance of menus, i don't think (is that what you meant?)

You should probably explain in more detail about how you would want your menu to behave. How would the player choose an action? What would the menu look like? How would the buttons be arrayed? Would sub menus appear, or would they already be visible? Would the menu disappear when the player isn't active? It is much easier to figure out how to program something once you fully and logically plan it out.

Also, you might want to take a look at phatsk8tboarder's example.

well...should the menu be a sprite first off? I want it to have four options and it's displayed in the top left corner.

yeah i think using sprites would be alot easier than programming it all in that draw-shape stuff, making a menu is actually quite easy, if i have time i could make you a gmd but i'm only gonna do a menu, cuz i'm not experienced in making battle systems

that'd be great, I use gm6 but I can convert it. I already have a small battle system going so it's not necessary. thanks,

It has five images for the cursor around it, and it changes sprites when it is selected but I want the new sprites to show the variables and stuff...

yo dude i completely forgot about that menu i was making ( i was looking for a job ) if you want what i got so far i could give it to you, the only problem is that it's in gm5.3
