I had this game on hold for awhile and recently found inspiration to work on it again. Alot has been done and I'm getting closer to a fully functional game. Its a classic style dungeon crawl game with pheudo 3d display, diablo-like inventory system and a sort of real time point and click combat system. There are still many features yet to come, including a functioning skill system and not one thats just for display. I'm looking forward to any comments, suggestions or recommendations, so send me an email. Also if you have some midi composing talent, or know someone who does, also email me at scott_aw@netzero.com Download at us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/3fcc696c_4b3b/...CSXk5BBSa5m8NBYor f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/dracky...case.yahoo.com/

As of this post I'm uploading a Normal priority version, labeled NP at the end of the file. If the problem continues to occur, could you give me a few specs about your system. Hopefully you're right at this is a simple fix.

well i didn't play it very long, but i gotta say it looks superb,
my only problem is the controls
instead of
Q = left E = Right W = up S= down
it should be
W = up A = left S = down d = right
but it's a matter of oppinion really, by the way the graphics are magnificent, at times it actually looks 3d, but it's kinda dark and my pc's brightness is on full blast
great work!

I've uploaded a new version. A couple fixes, movement changes, backdrops added and a stat bar thats visible at all times. More to come with item destroying and functioning skills. Currently text has appeared in the buttons by the item info display on the inventory window, it doesn't do anything yet. Build 7d also contains an updated copy of the instructions, so you won't need to download it seperatly. briefcase.yahoo.com/drackyn@sbcglobal.net

Build 8c is now available here briefcase.yahoo.com/drackyn@sbcglobal.net, with new maps, some modified graphics, map, working combat skills, enemy item drops, preset chests, limited quantity barrels with differing items. Items can now be destroyed with the junk button, simply click on it while a item is being held to junk it. Some enemies will drop a sack with an item, simply click on it to obtain its contents. Weapon's hit rate is now affected by its skill, attacking will bring up its exp and percentage. Dodge skill will gain in experience while in combat as well. Speed issues have been fixed in combat, apparently it wasn't registering properly and slow weapons where about as fast as the faster ones. If any problems, wierdness or crashes occur, please inform me. As always, suggestions are welcome to help develope the game. Future updates will contain a more complicated combat system, npc interaction, locked doors with keys, switches for secrets and more. Projected in build 9. Updated version of build 8 may become available before this and will not include all the features just mentioned, but some of them for testing purposes. Know issues: 1) If a barrel and a chest are both adjacent to the player, both the chest and barrel can contain the others items, this doesn't, however, mean you can get double the items. 2) You'll notice that some areas will block your movement in the second map, this is intentional since that map isn't complete. Also on the first map you cannot go downstairs, there isn't a map for that yet either.

it's strange how not many people reply here,
personally, i am all about graphics and i always make sure that a game is graphicaly averaged before i try it, and i really love the graphics you used in game, it's really giving me a 3d feeling, did you make them? if so you could make some textures for us, the monster's are kind of less compared to the backgrounds but that's ok. i always seem to get lost when i'm playing this, but this seriously rocks
by the way i loved the dungeon crawling games like dungeon master and stuff

I guess these boards are quite as popular as the two major ones. Probably needs more public advertisement.
Yep, all the graphics and textures are personally made by yours truelly. I admit the enemies could be alot better in quality, but not until I can get my hands on a scanner. As it is everything is done on the computer, except for the blob thing that was in the previous versions. I know someone who has a scanner, but I also need to start sketching some enemies first. I want to have some comparison between monster graphics and 3d, but I doubt I'll ever use 3d models, too complicated to work with and it cuts out the uniqueness that a hand drawn picture can have. As for making textures, I may be able to do some, but my free time isn't much at the time being. If you have some request though I'll take them into consideration and possibly throw out a couple for you. Just give me the deminsions of the texture and what kind you like, plus examples of textures you're currently using so I can keep them from looking too different. Constrasting textures never looks good.

I'm on 56k, so downloading 3.5Mb takes a considerably long time.
It would be nice if you could upload a couple of screenshots. I checked out the website and you had 5 white squares, but they didn't seem to hold images, so I assume you don't have any screenshots yet.
Other than that, from what you've said, the game sounds good. I'm just working out a time when I might find time to download it (or i'll just wind up using a download manager)

awesome graphics and sounds. The battle system etc is very well done. Just 2 things I noticed that may need to be considered. The enemy sprites don't exactly fit with the professional look of the dungeon. They seem somewhat cartoonish. Also, just crawling around in a dungeon all day collecting weapons and fighting can get monotonous, i'm sure you know, so I look forward to when you implement the other skills, and see what the system is as a whole.
A small bug I noticed was windows and doors had a pink/purple outline around them a lot of times. I'm fairly sure my graphics card and DX are up to date, so I doubt it's my computer.

the problem with pink outlines occurs in many gm games, i simply have to change my computer to 16-bit, or sometimes it's the resolution
